In early 2009, photographer Joshua Loring (also of the band Brenda) and SPACE Gallery were awarded a grant by the Maine Arts Commission to document the underground rock scene in Portland, Maine. The result is TREBLE TREBLE Volume 1, a full color photo album designed by Sean Wilkinson and accompanying CD compilation featuring music by Portland bands and mastered by Pete Nenortas at Satronen Sound. Loring's photos capture these individuals in the context of their musical careers as well as in their daily lives, reminding us that the people making your breakfast, working in your office, and ringing you up at the store are also part of Portland's vibrant but often overlooked underground music community.
